2012 the year that we launched, here's a review of how we got on and why we love it here.

TOMS REVIEW OF 2012....
What a year we have had Eco 'Glamping' in style at the farm. This year has blown all expectations out of the water. The enthusiasm towards our Lodges, by old and young, has been overwhelming. The wonderful and varied guests we have welcomed throughout the year have made the whole project a pleasure. Everyone has been so kind with there comments, highlighting pleasure such as, sitting around the campfire toasting marshmallows, bbq's with wonderful local produce, playing games in the summer sun and in the cosy lodges, sitting on the veranda watching the sun set, star gazing, farm walks, feeding calves, milking cows, collecting eggs, bike rides, exploring the island and most of all the sense of togetherness the lodges seem to bring to all the families and groups.

My personal highlights include the Olympic opening ceremony, which we managed to somehow project on the Lodge and enjoy, our first guests cooking a delicious topside joint of local beef with potato dauphinoise, (this put to rest my worries of people cooking on the woodburning stove/oven,) watching a calf being born with a Vicar from Taunton and his wonderful family - I could feel a sermon brewing! And also a great birthday party which booked out the whole site. They certainly enjoyed the local brews and had a wonderful time! Though as much as anything, I love just being up at the Lodges at the end of the day watching the sun setting, the sea and country view, with a glass of wine or pint of local ale, while the wood burner or bbq fires up ready for feast to be created, bliss.

Let's not forget our new permanent guests - The rescued battery Hens! Since arriving on the farm you can tell they are much happier and healthier, and the abundance of eggs they are laying for the guests is proof of that!

I believe we have started something special here on the island and this is just the start. So what can we look forward to in 2013, so much more... Coming soon!
